Odour is released by 2 types of air contaminants:

  • fine particles & oily aerosols

  • volatile compounds

Cigarette smoke, for instance, contains all these contaminants.


Before removing the volatile fraction, it is essential to abate the particles & aerosols first.


Electrofiltration is a very efficient technology for removing the very fine sticky particles and oily aerosols.


Activated carbon is able to efficiently remove most of the volatile molecules. Only the very volatile molecules cannot adsorb on standard activated carbon, like:

  • Organic: formaldehyde, methanol, acetaldehyde, methylchloride, PCP, mercaptans,

  • Inorganic: ammoniac, H2S
